For many years System 3R has successfully supplied automatic electrode changers under the product name 3Robomatic. Changers which, like the rest of the System 3R range, are modular so that they fit all machine types on the market.
3Robomatic has a built-in control unit which controls and monitors the entire changing process. The motion of the changer is generated pneumatically, whilst both the rotary motion and the vertical motion have a hydraulic damping function to ensure exact movements.
Every movement of the changer arm is monitored by sensors in the form of limit switches or magnetic contacts. If the changer arm is stopped in any of its motions, the motion is interrupted and an alarm is indicated on the panel of the changer.
Briefly, the changer works as follows: The machine sends a signal to the changer to change the electrode. The changer controller checks that the parameters involved are correct and takes over the actual changing of the electrode. When the change is complete, the changer gives a signal to the machine to resume the machine program.
Note that, because of adaptation to each machine type, stroke etc., automatic changers are supplied only in collaboration with the relevant machine manufacturer.
